A California couple has been fined for holding a bible study at their home, is this constitutional? They live in an unpopulated area and have plenty of room for the 20 or so people that go to their home once a month for a bible study. Only one of their neighbor was ever known to complain about it. It wasn't like it was a nuisance or anything. They have a ordinance that says that you have to have a permit to have meetings of one or more that is routine they can be pricey and hard to obtain.
So why if there is no noise and they are not obstructing traffic, can't they have meetings of any kind in the home they have bought and paid for. Shouldn't it be the choice of the homeowner what they do and don't do in their own home. This ordinance is skating the line of unconstitutional in my opinion. This country was founded on freedom of religion amongst other things, however the opinions of one person can make beliefs difficult to follow.
I don't agree with the ordinance in this area and I don't agree with the fact that it only take one person complaining to make the lives and religious ways of this couple harder to obtain. It should be their choice what they do in their own home. Not the choice of the city and persons in that city.
