Boy or Girl?

An 8 year old boy in California has decided that he is an 8 year old girl. He and his lesbian parents have put him on hormone blockers so that he has time to decide if this is truly what he wants. Is it right tho? He has normal grown up brothers who are not interested in being women, but does his lesbian mothers have any impact on his decision? Transgender modification is easier to do when the person is young that way they don't have to go through puberty. They won't get the big shoulders or the deep voice they just stay slight. He when given a choice chooses the girly things like headbands and dresses. The doctors say this is normal for a young transgender child to do, but is it right?

Transgender modification is a conterversial thing in its self but to do this to a young child that has yet to be able to fully understand the implications of his actions, that is a whole other story. I think that the choice to be a transgender is up to the person making the choice, but I don't agree with a child being given the choice at such a young age. Has he really been able to see the world and walk in the shoes of a women? Has he ever had a male influence that could possibly make a difference in the way he views himself? I don't think this boy has had a chance from the beginning. I am not against homosexuals or anything that is considered a page of it in any way.  I think that it should be the right of the person to make their own decisions. I am just not sure that a boy of 8 years should be offered this possibility.
Maybe in the minds of the parents they think that if this is the way he is always going to be they can make it easier to be himself by blocking his hormones allowing him to forgo puberty so that him being a women will not be so hard on him. I am a grown adult and I am not even sure what I want sometimes, but ultimatly it is the parents and the doctors decision. I just don't have to agree with it.

Treatment by Worms.

The treatment of some ailments maybe a little gross in the future but will it make a difference? Some doctors think that worms ingested in to the body may be able to cure some ailments that people suffer. There is a group of 15 people in ,Orlando Florida are going to find out. Dr Ira Shafran, thinks that by ingesting pig whipworm larvae may cure Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is an ailment that has to do with inflamation of the bowels that causes great pain for the person suffering with it. If this trial works we may have a new way of curing a lot of diseases including asthma, multiple sclerosis, IBS, allergy, and cancer. The reason some doctors think we may have these ailments today might very well be because we as a generation, have opted for the germ free world. Germs are good people they do things to the body that we need.

I thought this article was interesting because who would have thought that by ingesting worms you might be able to cure anything. I think that this is a good thing. It means the medical world is breaking free of its perscription drug overdose of our country.

I am amazed that worms can maybe make a difference in the lives of so many people that have some of these diseases. I have a friend that has Crohn's disease and she would probably eat whatever it took to get away from the ailment, including worms. Who would have thought that because most of us try to live a germ free life we could be causing some of these things that ail us. Maybe even if this trial doesn't go well they will at least maybe come to some conclusion of weather or not our obsession of a germ free lifestyle is bad for us or not?

Love or Hate?

Facebook is getting a face lift according to CNN, it is going to be more like a life timeline. Some people will love it and some people will hate it. It will have a new look and will be more functional. It will have two different colums, that will have pictures and links in one and status updates in the other. It will be easier to find what you look at most. . It will be a timeline that chronilogicaly put your life in order. You will be able to highlight the good and make the bad look less of a big deal. You will wonder how you lived without it being this way.

I personally use Facebook to talk to my family that lives all over the world. I also use it to keep in touch with the people that live within driving distance. It is a convenient way to gather, talk, say happy birthday, make announcments, and to just toot your own horn.

I also have gotten the upgrade early just to be ready for when you won't have any choice. I love it! It is easier to use once you get started. I has a lot of really neat little features that make it more of a diary than just an update page for your life. It will be one of those things that you will either love it or hate it tho. My mother hates Facebook, but she loves the new Facebook. She doesn't have to look at all the stuff that annoys her, and can focus on the things that she does look at. I was a little hesitant to go ahead and turn on the features of the new website, I don't like change, but it was really worth it in the end.

Text Nation

On average the percentage of cell phone users that prefer receiving a text instead of a phone call is one third of the nation. That is high compared to other methods of being contacted. Teens text the most out of cell phone owners, but as for the adults who own cell phones the percentage is still staggering.

I own a cell phone and I do prefer to be texted more so that a phone call. It gives me more time to review my options and make a decision or answer with better judgement and also to not be hasty. There are bonuses for text messaging rather than a phone call or conversation. In the same breath there are downfalls to it also. For example when you have a conversation you get body language and facial expressions to go along with the conversation. When you have a phone call you don't get those things but you also don't have always have the ample amount of time to come to a good decision or at least an educated one. With text messaging you have time to reflect and think about what you are going to say and say it in a way that reflects your meaning. It is a great resource also for those that don't think before they speak and get themselves in pickles.

New Dolphin

According to National Geographic Daily News they have discovered a new species of dolphin right off the coast of Australia, not in some weird place hidden from everyone but as said in the article "Right under their noses". If it hadn't been for DNA and slight cranial differences no one would ever know.
There are now 3 know saltwater dolphins and 1 freshwater dolphin species, two of which are fairly newly discovered.

This just makes me think about all the other animals out there that have yet to be discovered. I wonder when they will make new discoveries?  This doesn't happen everyday and I think it is wonderful that they still haven't stopped looking for new species of animals. With all the other animal species out there they are still finding more and more. Will they ever find them all? I think in the deep dark recesses of mountains, forests, and oceans there are still many more species to discover. I hope they never stop looking. This discovery is unusual because it was right under their noses, so that adds to the fascination of this discovery.
